MYOPIA MANAGEMENT
Myopia (short sightedness) prevalence in children in the UK has doubled in 50 years. There is a pressing need to understand how myopia develops and to find innovative solutions to prevent or slow its progression. Our treatments use the latest technology with the aim of stopping or slowing the progress of myopia in it's tracks.
WHAT IS MYOPIA
Myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is a common eye condition that causes distant objects to appear blurry while nearby objects remain clear. It occurs when the eyeball is too long or the optical system of the eye is too strong, which causes the light entering the eye to focus incorrectly on the retina.

WHO IS MYOPIA MANAGEMENT FOR?
Myopia management is typically recommended for individuals, particularly children, and adolescents, who have been diagnosed with myopia or short-sightedness. Myopia management is aimed at slowing down the progression of myopia and can be an effective way to reduce the risk of myopia-related complications and promote better visual outcomes over the long term.
WHAT TREATMENTS ARE AVAILABLE?
Corrective lenses: Spectacle and contact lenses are the most common and non-invasive ways to correct myopia.
Orthokeratology (Ortho-k): This is a process of using special rigid contact lenses to temporarily reshape the cornea of the eye, which helps to correct myopia.
Behavioral modifications: These include spending more time outdoors and taking frequent breaks from close work.
The choice of treatment depends on the individual's age, the severity of their myopia, and other factors. Our myopia management expert can help to determine the most appropriate treatment option for each individual.

MYOPIA MANAGEMENT SUCCES RATE
Myopia management may result in a 40% to 60% slowing of myopia progression on average. Additionally, there may be a lower risk of myopia-related sight loss in adulthood. However, some people's vision may be marginally less clear during treatment.
